As someone who struggles with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), I am no stranger to being caught in an anxious cycle of overthinking. I tend to overthink everything. “Do my friends actually like me?” “Is my writing any good?” “Am I wasting my life?” All these questions bombard my head every single day, and I spiral into overthinking.
You may also be caught in an anxious cycle of overthinking and be desperate for a way out. The good news is that we don’t have to stay in this anxious prison forever. Jesus can help you break out of this cycle and give you lasting peace.
Whenever you are caught in a frenzy of anxious thoughts, turn to Him in prayer. Reflect on what He says in the Bible and hold His promises close to your heart. You might feel alone at times and without help, but it is important to remember that God is always with you. He will be with you when the times are good and when the times are challenging. Other people in our lives might leave, but He never will (Hebrews 13:5-6).
