Turns Out… Most Worries Are Fiction

Feb 6, 2026 | Hard Times

Worry has a way of making tomorrow feel heavier than it truly is. The quote, “I am an old man and have had many worries, but most have never come to pass,” reminds us that much of our anxiety is built on imagined outcomes rather than lived reality. Over time, experience teaches what faith has always promised: God is faithful, and our fears are often poor prophets.

Jesus spoke directly to this struggle when He said, “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34, BSB). Worry pulls us out of the present moment where God’s grace is already at work. It convinces us that we must carry burdens God never asked us to hold.

Looking back, many believers can see how God provided, protected, and guided them through circumstances that once caused sleepless nights. The fears felt real, but God’s faithfulness proved greater. That perspective invites us to trust Him not only with yesterday and today, but also with what lies ahead.

When worry rises, it can become an invitation to pray, to release control, and to remember that God is already in our future. Peace grows when we choose trust over fear and rest in His unfailing care.

Prayer: Father, help me release my worries into Your hands today and trust You with what I cannot control. Teach me to walk in peace, confident in Your faithfulness.
