Growth rarely feels comfortable in the moment. Waiting stretches us. Delays test us. Unanswered prayers can leave a bitter taste in our mouths. Yet Scripture reminds us that God is never late and never careless with our lives.
James writes, “Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the soil—how patient he is for the fall and spring rains” (James 5:7, BSB). A farmer does not rush the harvest. He trusts the unseen work happening beneath the surface. In the same way, God is cultivating something deeper in us while we wait.
Patience forms Christlike character. It teaches us to surrender control, to trust God’s timing, and to believe that His promises are worth the wait. What feels bitter today may be preparing a sweetness tomorrow—stronger faith, deeper peace, or a testimony that encourages someone else.
If you are in a season of waiting, do not despise it. The Holy Spirit is producing fruit in you that cannot grow any other way. Stand firm. Keep praying. Keep trusting. The harvest will come in God’s perfect time.
Lord, help me trust You in seasons of waiting. Produce in me the sweet fruit of patience that reflects Your heart and timing. Amen.
