“And when we love our sin then we are damned indeed.” This sobering truth confronts us with an important question: what has captured our affection? Scripture teaches that sin is not only something we do, but often something we cling to when it promises comfort, control, or escape. Yet what feels familiar can quietly harden our hearts and distance us from God.
The Bible is clear about the stakes. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23, BSB). Sin always costs more than it promises. When we begin to excuse it, protect it, or even love it, we slowly trade freedom for bondage. Jesus did not come to shame us, but to rescue us from what destroys us. He lovingly invites us into something better: “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36, BSB).
God’s grace does not minimize sin; it overcomes it. Repentance is not about fear or condemnation, but about turning toward life, healing, and restoration. When we release our grip on sin, we discover the joy of walking closely with Christ, unburdened and renewed by His mercy.
Prayer for today:
Lord, reveal anything in my heart that pulls me away from You. Give me the courage to turn from sin and the grace to walk in the freedom You offer. Amen.
