Before the Rise, God Shapes You for Something More

May 12, 2026 | Identity | James 4:10

God often does His deepest work in the quiet seasons when pride is stripped away and self-reliance fades. Though humbling moments can feel uncomfortable, they are never wasted in His hands. They prepare the soil of our hearts for something greater than we could produce on our own.

Scripture reminds us, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you” (James 4:10, BSB). There is a divine order in God’s kingdom: surrender comes before elevation. When we release control, acknowledge our need for Him, and walk in humility, we make room for His power to be revealed in our lives.

Humility is not weakness—it is strength under God’s authority. It positions us to receive His grace, wisdom, and direction. In seasons where you feel brought low, remember that God is not diminishing you; He is preparing you. He sees what lies ahead and is shaping your character to carry the blessings He intends to give.

Take heart in knowing that God lifts those who trust Him fully. What feels like a lowering is often the foundation for a greater rising in His perfect timing.

Prayer: Lord, teach me to walk in humility and trust Your process in my life. Prepare my heart for all You desire to do, and lift me up according to Your perfect will.
