Choose strength: overcome pain with God’s help

May 2, 2026 | Hard Times | 2 Corinthians 4:8

Pain is an unavoidable part of living in a broken world. Disappointment, loss, and hardship will come, often when we least expect them. Yet while we may not have control over the pain we face, we do have a choice in how we respond. God does not ask us to pretend the pain is not real—He invites us to bring it to Him and find strength to rise above it.

Scripture reminds us, “We are hard pressed on all sides, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair” (2 Corinthians 4:8, BSB). This truth speaks directly to the heart of every struggle: pain may press in, but it does not have to define us. Through Christ, we are given resilience, hope, and the power to overcome.

Choosing to overcome does not happen in our own strength. It begins with surrender—trusting God with what hurts and allowing Him to work in and through our circumstances. Over time, He transforms pain into purpose, using it to deepen our faith and shape our character.

Today, whatever you are facing, remember that your story is not over. With God, there is always hope beyond the pain.

Prayer: Lord, help me to trust You in the midst of pain and give me strength to overcome through Your grace. Turn my struggles into growth and draw me closer to You each day.
