Happiness Isn’t What You Think

Apr 12, 2026 | Purpose | Colossians 3:23

True joy is not found in constantly chasing what feels good in the moment, but in discovering God’s purpose within what He has placed before us. When we learn to embrace our daily responsibilities with gratitude and faith, even the ordinary becomes meaningful. God often shapes our character not through extraordinary moments, but through consistent faithfulness in everyday life.

Scripture reminds us, “Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men” (Colossians 3:23, BSB). This perspective transforms our attitude. Tasks that once felt routine or burdensome can become opportunities to honor God and reflect His excellence. Joy grows when our focus shifts from personal preference to purposeful living.

Liking what we do does not mean everything is easy or enjoyable. It means trusting that God is at work in every assignment, every season, and every step. When we align our hearts with His will, contentment begins to take root.

Today, ask God to reshape your perspective. Look for His hand in your work, your responsibilities, and your relationships. As you do, you may find that joy was not missing—it was waiting to be discovered through faith.

Lord, help me find joy in what You have placed before me. Shape my heart to see purpose in every task and to serve You with gratitude today.
