Courage and faith are powerful gifts from God. They are not personality traits reserved for a bold few; they are spiritual anchors available to every believer. When trials come—and they will—misery often whispers that defeat is inevitable. Yet Scripture tells a different story.
Faith fixes our eyes on what is unseen and eternal. “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7, BSB). Courage, rooted in that faith, empowers us to stand firm when circumstances feel overwhelming. It is not the absence of fear, but the decision to trust God in the middle of it.
Joshua faced an intimidating future when he was called to lead Israel. God’s command was simple and strong: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9, BSB). The promise of God’s presence made courage possible.
Misery does not have the final word in the life of a believer. When we cling to Christ, hardship becomes a refining fire, not a permanent residence. Faith reminds us that God is working. Courage helps us keep moving forward.
Today, choose to trust Him again. Stand firm. He is with you.
Prayer: Father, strengthen my faith and fill me with courage today. Help me trust You in every trial and walk confidently in Your promises.
