Love That Grows Beyond Bloodlines

Mar 31, 2026 | Relationships | Proverbs 27:17

God designed people to live in relationships. From the very beginning, Scripture shows that we are not meant to walk through life alone. While families are a gift from God, friendships are another powerful way He provides encouragement, support, and companionship along the journey of faith.

True friendship reflects many of the qualities God desires in His people. A faithful friend listens, encourages, and stands beside us in both joyful and difficult moments. Sometimes God places people in our lives who strengthen our faith, remind us of His promises, and help us stay focused on what truly matters.

The Bible highlights the importance of this kind of relationship: “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17, BSB). Healthy friendships challenge us to grow spiritually, speak truth when we need guidance, and celebrate God’s goodness together.

Choosing wise and godly friends can shape the direction of our lives. When friendships are rooted in faith, they become more than simple companionship—they become a source of spiritual encouragement and mutual growth. Through these relationships, God often reminds us that we are part of a larger family of believers.

Cherish the friends God has placed in your life, and seek to be that same blessing to others.

Prayer for today:
Lord, thank You for the gift of friendship. Help me encourage and strengthen the people You have placed in my life. Amen.
