Rain, Resilience, and Rainbows

Apr 26, 2026 | Hard Times | Psalm 121:1–2

Storms have a way of capturing our attention. When disappointment falls, plans unravel, or discouragement settles in, it is natural to focus on what is going wrong. Yet Scripture gently redirects our gaze upward. “I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:1–2, BSB).

God often uses life’s rainy moments to accomplish something deeper than we can see in the moment. Just as rain is necessary for a rainbow to appear, trials can become the backdrop for God’s faithfulness, growth, and unexpected beauty. What feels like interruption may actually be preparation. What seems like loss may be shaping a stronger trust in Him.

When we choose to look up instead of down, we shift from frustration to faith. We remember that God is present in every storm, working all things together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28). The rain does not have the final word—God does.

Today, if you find yourself under heavy clouds, lift your eyes. Trust that God is still writing a story of hope, even now.

Prayer: Lord, help me to look up to You in every storm and trust Your purpose. Give me faith to believe that You are working for good, even when I cannot see it.
