The Surprising Road to Peace

Feb 26, 2026 | |

The quote, “Peace is not sought in order to provoke war, but war is waged in order to attain peace,” reminds us that peace is costly. True peace does not come from avoidance or denial of conflict, but from confronting what threatens wholeness and restoration. Scripture shows us that God’s heart has always been for peace, yet that peace was won through great sacrifice.

Jesus did not promise a life free from struggle. Instead, He entered the ultimate battle on our behalf. “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives” (John 14:27, Berean Standard Bible). The peace Christ offers is not fragile or temporary. It is secured through His victory over sin and death.

In our daily lives, choosing peace often means standing firm in truth, forgiving when it hurts, and resisting fear and bitterness. These moments can feel like inner battles, but God uses them to shape our hearts and draw us closer to Him. As followers of Christ, we are called to be peacemakers, trusting that God is at work even when the process is difficult.

Today, rest in the assurance that God’s peace is purposeful, powerful, and enduring.

Prayer:
Father God, thank You for the peace You secured through Jesus. Help me trust You in every struggle today and walk in Your lasting peace. Amen.
