But [living immorally] isn’t what you learned about Christ. Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception.
Two of the things Paul made clear in His teaching about Jesus were these: the cost Jesus paid to redeem us from sin and what that means for our lives as His followers:
For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. [1] . . . This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! [2]
As we seek to become more like Jesus, we want to continually throw off our old sinful nature corrupted by out-of-control
