This Is What Makes Us Human

Mar 27, 2026 | Relationships | Matthew 7:12

God created human beings to live in relationship with Him and with one another. From the beginning, Scripture shows that we were not meant to live isolated lives. Instead, we are called to recognize the value, dignity, and worth that God has placed in every person.

When we truly see others as people made in the image of God, our attitudes begin to change. Compassion replaces indifference, kindness replaces judgment, and humility replaces pride. Scripture reminds us of this truth: “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you” (Matthew 7:12, BSB). This principle calls believers to treat others with the same respect, grace, and understanding we hope to receive ourselves.

Recognizing the value of others also reflects the heart of Christ. Jesus consistently reached out to people who were overlooked, rejected, or misunderstood. He saw beyond appearances and treated each person with compassion and dignity.

As followers of Christ, we are invited to do the same. When we acknowledge the humanity and God-given worth of those around us, we begin to build stronger relationships and reflect God’s love in the world.

Each interaction becomes an opportunity to honor God by showing respect, patience, and kindness to those He has created.

Prayer for today:
Lord, help me see others through Your eyes today. Fill my heart with compassion so that I treat every person with dignity, kindness, and love. Amen.
