It is easy to move through life focused on our own needs, plans, and concerns. Without realizing it, this inward focus can cause us to miss the very opportunities God places right in front of us. A hurting friend, a struggling coworker, or a simple moment to encourage someone can pass by unnoticed when our attention is fixed on ourselves.
Jesus consistently demonstrated a different way to live. He saw people. He paused, listened, and responded with compassion. Scripture reminds us, “Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others” (Philippians 2:4, BSB). When we shift our focus outward, our hearts begin to align more closely with His.
Serving others does not always require grand gestures. Often, it begins with awareness—a willingness to notice and respond. As we ask God to open our eyes, He reveals opportunities that were always there, waiting for a willing heart.
Today, take a step beyond your own thoughts and concerns. Look for someone you can serve, encourage, or support. In doing so, you reflect the love of Christ in a tangible and meaningful way.
Lord, open my eyes to see the needs around me. Help me to serve others with a selfless heart and reflect Your love in all I do today.
