Your Forecast Matters

Mar 12, 2026 | Faith

Our expectations quietly shape the direction of our lives. While we often focus on what we desire, Scripture reminds us that what we believe in our hearts carries even greater influence. Expectations reveal where our trust truly rests.

Proverbs 23:7 teaches, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” (BSB). If we expect disappointment, we begin to look for it. If we expect failure, we often hesitate before we even try. But when our expectations are anchored in God’s character rather than our circumstances, everything changes.

Romans 15:13 offers a powerful promise: “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (BSB). Notice the connection between believing and overflowing. Expectation rooted in faith produces hope, joy, and peace.

This does not mean we always receive every earthly desire. It means we confidently expect God to be faithful. We expect Him to guide, provide, and redeem—even when outcomes look different than we planned.

Today, examine your expectations. Are they shaped by fear, or by faith in a good and sovereign Father?

Lord, align my expectations with Your promises. Teach me to trust You fully and to expect Your faithfulness in every season.
