The Path to True Magnificence

Apr 20, 2026 | Identity | John 3:30

Pride has a subtle way of placing us at the center of our own lives. We may not say it out loud, but in our thoughts and actions, we often seek recognition, control, and significance. Yet the path to truly honoring Christ looks very different from the world’s expectations. It requires humility—a willingness to step back so that He can be seen more clearly.

John the Baptist captured this truth beautifully when he said, “He must increase; I must decrease” (John 3:30, BSB). Making Christ magnificent in our lives begins with surrender. It means laying down our need to be noticed, our desire to be right, and our pursuit of personal glory. In doing so, we create space for His power, grace, and character to shine through us.

Humility is not weakness; it is strength under God’s direction. When we choose to make ourselves small, we position ourselves to experience more of Him. And in that place, our lives become a reflection of His greatness, not our own.

Today, ask God to help you release self-centered ambitions and embrace a posture of humility that lifts Him higher in every area of your life.

Prayer: Lord, teach me to walk in humility and to make You greater in my life. Help me decrease so that Your glory may shine through me each day.
