Old Enough to Choose Better

Apr 28, 2026 | Identity | James 4:17

Maturity is not simply measured by age, but by the choices we make. There comes a point in life when we can no longer claim ignorance or immaturity as an excuse for our actions. God calls us to a higher standard—to live with integrity, responsibility, and a heart that seeks what is right.

Scripture reminds us, “To him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin” (James 4:17, BSB). This is both a challenge and an invitation. It means that as we grow in understanding, we are also called to grow in obedience. God does not leave us guessing; He equips us through His Word and His Spirit to walk in righteousness.

Doing what is right is not always easy. It often requires humility, courage, and a willingness to turn away from wrong choices. Yet every step toward obedience strengthens our character and deepens our relationship with God. What once felt difficult becomes more natural as we consistently choose His way.

Today is an opportunity to align your actions with what you know is right. Trust that God will give you the strength to follow through.

Prayer: Lord, give me the courage to do what is right and the wisdom to follow Your ways. Help me to live with integrity in every choice I make.
